Discreet reporter

The ZEISS Loxia 2/35 offers an extended angle of view. This makes it the first choice when a subject needs to be shown in its surroundings or people need to be placed in context. For example in reportage or street photography. For this genre, it is therefore the most important focal length within a compact 35 mm camera system. At the same time, the compactness of this system gives you a certain independence and discretion when taking pictures. And the manual focus gives you all the creative freedom you need to tell and shape your story individually.

The ZEISS Loxia Lens has been specially developed for Sony α7 series cameras. This means that you can combine the advantages of the latest mirrorless full-frame cameras with the creative possibilities of "classic" photography with manual focus.

Last but not least, ZEISS Loxia lenses have everything you need for video recordings of the highest quality - e.g. the unique DeClick feature for continuous adjustment of the aperture.

A Lens with such a wide angle of view that it can capture so much of the surrounding world in a single shot - this is what the name Biogon originally means. A focal length slightly shorter than the format diagonal, produced with an almost completely symmetrical lens construction of remarkable compactness. Distortion is exceptionally well corrected, as are the chromatic properties and image field flattening.

DeClick function

A completely new function of the Loxia lenses is the ability to "de-click" the aperture locking mechanism with the supplied tool via a set screw on the bayonet surface. In video applications, an unplanned difference in brightness during camera panning can thus be continuously compensated. This function can also be used with other video systems that are suitable for adaptation due to their favorable dimensions.

Precise manual focus

Operating a Lens manually means controlling the image result from your fingertips. Ergonomics is everything. The ZEISS Lens impresses with its large angle of rotation, which enables precise focusing to the point. Changes are immediately visible in the viewfinder. The high-quality focusing mechanism is smooth-running and has no play, thus additionally supporting the intuitive play with the focal plane. The precise engraving in meters and feet as well as the depth of field scale offer additional help when focusing manually.

Virtually distortion-free optics

Dramatic perspectives and the view from unusual angles - ZEISS Lens open up new creative possibilities. Distortion would disturb the composition, as straight lines whose image does not pass through the center of the image would appear curved. This disruptive effect is largely compensated for by sophisticated optical designs for all focal lengths.

High-quality all-metal mount

Tangible quality and high value retention qualify ZEISS Lens for decades of intensive use. The high-quality all-metal mount, the non-slip metal focusing and aperture ring and the robust front bayonet and filter thread ensure an inspiring photographic experience. In addition, a special sealing ring on the bayonet protects the interface between camera and Lens.

Comprehensive compatibility

ZEISS Lens are suitable for Sony Alpha digital cameras and have been optimized for films and sensors up to the full 35 mm format (24 x 36 mm).
