In the professional sector, Sony has specifically inquired about the needs of users. The Sony PXW series was redesigned after a series of discussions with documentary filmmakers. The result is a comfortable shoulder camera. It sits comfortably on the chest or shoulder and is compatible with E-mount and A-mount lenses as well as film and SLR lenses with the aid of an adapter. It also has OSS (Optical SteadyShot image stabilization), a motorized zoom and weighs in at just 2 kilograms. Compatibility is thanks to the Sony α mount lens system, which allows interchangeability with lenses from Sony and other manufacturers.
The PXW models are suitable for news or reportage, partly as 4K-capable compact camcorders with a full range of functions for a wide range of applications. These devices meet the highest demands with an incomparable level of quality.
For professional and private occasions (weddings, training courses, company events), camcorders from the HXR series are recommended, some of which are 30 percent more compact and easier to handle than some of the previous models.
Small camcorders - really big
The same applies to the small and handy camcorders: digital cameras convert the light reaching the sensor into a digital photo. Sony has developed the BIONZ X processor for this purpose. The cams in the FDR series with 4K Ultra HD recording function have outstanding ZEISS lenses and are suitable as camcorders for hand luggage, similar to the compact Handycams such as those in the HDR series, for example with a 29.8 millimeter wide-angle lens from ZEISS.
