  • High-performance Lens

  • 12 aperture blades enable a circular aperture at F2.8
  • developed and optimized for Sony E-mount full-frame cameras

High performer for outstanding image results
The designation APO-LANTHAR is given to particularly high-performance Lens in the Voigtländer range. And with the APO-LANTHAR 50 mm F2.0 we are talking about a real masterpiece! The development goal was to achieve imaging performance at the very highest level without making any design-related compromises. Almost all technically possible stops were pulled out to ensure this top performance. Two aspherical lens elements, five with abnormal partial dispersion, an integrated floating focus system and an optical calculation that reduces chromatic aberrations to almost zero ensure outstanding performance. The total of 12 aperture blades have a special shape so that a circular opening is created not only at aperture F2.0 but also at aperture F2.8. This enables a circular bokeh from a point light source. As usual with Voigtländer, the aperture is selected and the focus is set manually, and this can be done extremely precisely using the focus peaking function. The aperture locks in 1/3 increments and can also be switched completely to stepless (and therefore silent).

The Voigtländer APO-LANTHAR 50 mm F2.0 has electrical contacts with which the lens settings are included in the Exif information of the image data during image capture. In addition, the Lens is equipped with a distance encoder that enables support for 5-axis image stabilization on Sony cameras by providing the distance to the subject to compensate for camera shake.
