The 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art was developed for use on cameras with 50 megapixels and more and offers outstanding optical performance over the entire focal length range.
While minimizing distortion, this Lens offers the outstanding speed of F2.8 over the entire focal length range. It also delivers outstanding image quality at any focal length and shooting distance. For these reasons, it is the ultimate fast ultra-wide-angle zoom Lens.
The 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art incorporates three FLD glass elements, three SLD glass elements and three aspherical lens elements, including a large diameter aspherical element. Thanks to the effective arrangement of these glass elements with a high refractive index, the corrective effect of the FLD and SLD glass elements is further enhanced. This optical system minimizes lateral chromatic aberration and other optical aberrations, ensuring outstanding high-resolution image quality.
The first element in the optical system is a large-diameter aspherical lens. Optimizing the power distribution of this and the other lens elements minimizes distortion to 1% or even less*. As a result, points of light also appear as dots without streaking from the center of the image to the edge, and the entire image area benefits from uniform illumination. In addition, simulations from the development phase onwards have helped to minimize reflections and ghosting. The combination of these technologies ensures excellent ultra-wide-angle performance.

Professional specifications
Just like the lenses in the Sports product line, the 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art is also equipped with highly effective dust and splash protection. To this end, the lens mount, focus ring, zoom ring and front unit are fitted with a special seal, allowing the photographer to work in all weather conditions.
In addition, the front element of the Lens is protected by a water and oil-repellent coating, which also makes cleaning easier. The particularly fast and high-precision autofocus lets photographers react immediately to take that very special photo.
Introducing the new front-change service
Today's virtual reality developers favor multi-camera videography, which benefits from the capabilities of ultra-wide-angle Lens. Sigma is responding to this trend by offering the new Front Change Service, which allows you to convert the tulip-shaped lens hood of the 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art Lens into an exclusive round component. Thanks to this modified front structure, the Lens can be used much more flexibly in multi-camera VR videography. The new front also prevents the lens from interfering with other lenses or casting a visible shadow. The use of this exchange service does not affect the validity of the product warranty.
SIGMA USB dock
This USB dock allows the new SIGMA lenses from the Contemporary, Art and Sports product series to be adapted to the personal needs of each photographer. They have developed special software for this purpose (SIGMA Optimization Pro), which allows you to easily update the Lens firmware and, for example, adjust focus parameters.
SIGMA port exchange service
Sigma offers its chargeable port exchange service to our customers. As part of this service, Sigma converts the mount of the Contemporary, Art and Sports product lines by replacing all relevant parts at the customer's request.
Own A1 MTF measuring system
Sigam has its own A1 MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) measuring system, which uses the 46 megapixel Foveon direct image sensor. Using this system, they check every Lens in their new product line at their factory. Even previously undetectable high-frequency details have now become testable as part of their quality control, allowing them to deliver consistently high lens performance.
Made in Japan
Sigma is focused on optimizing quality with their integrated production system, using their own hands and techniques. They are one of the few manufacturers whose products are exclusively "Made in Japan". They pride themselves on the authentic quality of SIGMA products as a result of a combination of highly specialized expertise and intelligent modern technology.
Outstanding optical performance for the age of high-resolution digital cameras
Photographers expect more than outstanding image quality from a 24-70 mm F2.8 Lens. They want an all-purpose lens whose features cover a wide range of shooting situations.
They also want an optical design that is ideal for modern high-resolution digital cameras, a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for ultra-fast autofocus, an Optical Stabilizer (OS) with powerful stabilizing effect, a dust and splash-proof mount with rubber seal and a metal barrel for a stable, reliable feel.
Developed from the ground up, the SIGMA 24-70 mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Art delivers the performance and functionality to help professional photographers create successful shots for news, nature or many other areas.
The fast standard zoom Lens is perfectly suited for today's high-resolution digital cameras. Three SLD (Super Low Dispersion) glass elements and four aspherical lens elements ensure a reduction in aberrations. To ensure excellent image quality from the center to the edge of the photo, the optical system minimizes coma, where the light rays would be scattered and imaged like a comet's tail, and lateral chromatic aberrations that cannot be corrected by the aperture control. The optical system also reduces distortion that often occurs in wide-angle shots, resulting in exceptional optical performance throughout the zoom range.
A lens that meets the high standards of the SIGMA Art product line
We have always pioneered 24-70mm F2.8 lenses that are ahead of their time. The first model with this specification, the SIGMA 24-70 mm F2.8 EX DG ASPHERICAL DF, was launched in 2001. With the fourth generation of this product family, the new SIGMA 24-70 mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Art, we have achieved the feat of integrating an optical stabilizer into a standard zoom lens with a large diameter.
We have used our many years of experience in design and manufacture to ensure that this new lens can meet the uncompromising requirements of the Art product line in terms of image and processing quality.
An even more beautiful bokeh
When the aperture is wide open, this lens enables exceptional photographic expression. The focused subject area is exceptionally sharp, while the background has a beautiful bokeh with only minimal spherical aberrations. As fast zoom lenses are often used with the aperture wide open, SIGMA has paid full attention to the appearance of the bokeh to achieve the perfect circular shape.
Using advanced aspherical lens processing technology
Aspherical lenses in modern high-performance lenses require special expertise in design and manufacture. Our first products using this technology were the SIGMA 12-24mm F4 DG HSM | Art and SIGMA 14mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art, both of which utilize a large 80mm diameter aspherical lens element as the front lens element. Building on the success of these predecessors, we also integrated an aspherical lens element into the SIGMA 24-70 mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art, which achieves extremely high resolution.
This element is much thicker in the center than at the edges, and forming this unusual shape is a masterpiece of manufacturing technology. In addition, we machine the surface of this aspherical lens element to ultra-precise tolerances measured in hundredths of a micrometer. This extremely fine surface allows the SIGMA 24-70 mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art to produce a very natural and soft bokeh without the visible concentric rings often found in conventional aspherical lens elements.
The OS function and the Hyper-Sonic motor guarantee success with every shot
The Optical Stabilizer (OS) impresses with its powerful stabilizing effect and can therefore be used in many different situations. The newly designed, large Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) delivers 1.3 times more torque than its predecessor and offers exceptionally stable performance even at low speeds.
* Based on CIPA guidelines. Measured in the telephoto range on a camera with a 35mm full-frame image sensor.
Lens barrel with high rigidity
Since standard zoom lenses are often used as general-purpose lenses and are therefore frequently used, the SIGMA 24-70 mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art is designed to withstand the tougher shooting conditions that professional photographers face.
For this reason, the lens barrel is largely made of metal, while the outer moving parts are made of a thermally stable composite material (TSC) that is highly resistant to thermal expansion and contraction. This structure not only contributes to the exceptional optical performance of the lens, but also to its high strength and reliable workmanship.
Dust and splash-proof mount
As the mount of the lens is particularly susceptible to dust and other foreign bodies, the rubber seal ensures peace of mind. The front lens element also has a water and oil-repellent coating so that the lens works well in the rain, near water or in other difficult conditions.
Includes Nikon's electromagnetic aperture mechanism
In the Nikon version, the Lens has the electromagnetic aperture mechanism and is therefore able to process the signals from the camera body. This feature ensures precise aperture control and consistent auto exposure (AE) performance in continuous shooting mode.
