Application type:
ILFORD GALERIE Creative Emulsion is a water-based coating solution for creating inkjet printing papers from uncoated art papers. The inkjet receptive layer is applied manually and increases the maximum ink absorption and scratch resistance of the print substrate. This increases the maximum color density and sharpness of the printout.

Properties:
ILFORD GALERIE Creative Emulsion is available in two different versions:
Blend A and Blend B.

The two emulsions have different coating properties.

Blend A prevents the ink from running on the paper, which improves the color density and sharpness of the image without affecting the texture and color tone of the paper.

Blend B increases the ink absorption and scratch resistance of the applied coating.
At the same time, the surface is smoothed and the white tone of the paper is increased. The achievable maximum density is higher than when using Blend A.

It is recommended to experiment with both blends to obtain the individually desired appearance of the inkjet print.

ILFORD GALERIE Creative Emulsion can be applied to many different types of paper, such as washi, rice, bamboo and cotton paper, etc.

It can be used for printing systems with dye inks as well as pigment inks.

Instructions:
MixingBlend A and Blend B

We recommend using 100% Blend A to maintain the original texture and color of the art paper.

To improve the maximum density, increase the proportion of Blend B in the mixture - this can lead to changes in the texture and color tone of the paper.

The higher the proportion of Blend B, the more scratch-resistant the coating will be and the highest possible color density will be achieved.

Shake the bottles well before mixing. Simply pour Blend A and B together as required

Coating method:
We recommend using the ILFORD GALERIE Accessories squeegee for coating.
Please refer to the table below for the recommended coating thickness, as the
mixing ratio of the solutions is decisive for this.

1.
Fix the paper to be coated on a flat and smooth surface that is larger than the paper.

2.
Pour the desired amount of emulsion onto the upper end of the paper parallel to the squeegee.

3.
Any air bubbles that may appear in the solution are unproblematic.

4.
Now immediately pull the squeegee over the entire paper in one go. This process should take one to two seconds with A4 size paper.

5. Then allow the coating to dry for at least 3 hours under normal room conditions. The drying time can be shortened by applying hot air (e.g. with a hair dryer).
Increase the amount of solution if there are irregularities or uncoated areas, as well as insufficient scratch resistance on the surface.
It is possible to apply a second coat after the first coat has dried.
