Ohweh!! Film break in the camera! The super gau for analog photographers!

It's a good thing to have a change bag at hand.

For large format photographers it has always been part of the standard equipment, because it was the only way to change the films in the sheet film cassettes, far away from the home studio and the own "insertion chamber". It was and is the darkroom for on the road. On the right and left side with hand grips, which fit tightly to the wrist by elastic, so that no light gets in. And on the opposite side with a large zipper opening that - when closed, then also light-tight - allowed the insertion of sheet film cassettes, film packs or even (in case of film breakage) the complete camera.

But today? In the age of digital photography?

Does a change bag still make sense?

Yes, absolutely!!!

Because nothing is more practical to change lenses on the camera protected from the weather.
Many a person has had a lot of sand blown into the camera body when changing a lens at the seaside and many a person has had their sensor broken by ice crystals in the wind in the mountains.

Flying pollen can also be quite "clingy". Dust swirling up in a workshop is also not to be underestimated in industrial photography. It is not always possible to escape to protected rooms to change lenses.
